b4 any1 gets all excited to jump down my throat and say "its BETA, what did you expect", just hear me out.
vista is on its way maybe 1st or 2nd quarter next year, barring any further litigation from adobe, or any1 else. ie7 is going to roll out with it. many users already know you can download the beta for free and are actively using it. i know i have it on 2 machines already. its nice, i like it, but it breaks every theme i try with it. ie6 looks fantastic with friendselectric, or andreas9, but try them in ie7. the contact form is the worst, but in electric, the entire site is garbled junk.
this isnt a thread on m-soft sux, or firefox is better, or the theme isnt compatable, heck, i use 7 different browsers while testing, so its not about which is better, its about displaying properly across the board. i already put the standard browser disclaimer in, stating this site is best viewed with firefox, and i make a mention of ie6, opera, flock, and maxthon. but it irks me how ugly my site can get when viewed with ie7b2.
has any1 else experienced this, and have you figured a workaround for any of the issues yet? or are you not concerned at all?

It does what?
I've been testing with IEb2 as well, however my own experience has been to be pleasantly surprised since IE hasn't done anything untoward thus far. In fact, I actually displayed a broken page correctly where firefox simply omitted the munged portion.
While the experience has held true for both stock 4.7 themes and one I've been screwing around with long after it should have been finished, simply pointing out that its worked okay for me probably isn't much help to you.
On the other hand, the grids.css end of Yahoo's UI ajax doohickey has been getting a fair amount of favorable buzz among the themers whose posts I lurk, and I've had similar success with it, myself. While it won't help with the problems you're seeing with stock themes, it might make life easier should you decided to do one up of your own.
thanks
i havent progressed that far. i only started using drupal a cpl days ago, and ive been floored at the possibilities. so far, i have only tweaked the tpl's a little bit, and have not gone into creation or heavy editing of a solid layout yet. but i look forward to it, as once i saw a sample tpl, i knew that i would catch on quickly when the time comes.
i was completely unaware of the grids.css you mentioned, so thats on my list of things to do today. sooo much stuff to keep track of :(
which themes are displaying properly in ie7b2? i made mention of the two i tried, but to be honest, i didnt check them all, and i dont have the alt theme engine installed yet, so i cant comment on those themes at all.
how interesting that u experience problems in firefox, where i see exactly what i want to see :P and you have zero issues with ie7, and i see garbled text and broken frames. :(
well, thanks for the reply!

great! thanks for those links
layout complete
concerned yes and no, but now is the time to be fixing the stock themes that require it as the IE7 beta that was released at MIX06 in March is now "Layout Complete" meaning this is it more or less ;)
really it should just be a case of isolating the OLDer IE hacks/workarounds into a seperate file because IE7 should work with the good/compliant CSS, and if it doesn't and needs it's own workarounds they're not much different than the old ones used to be so they shouldn't be that hard to fix.
one BIG point to note is that if you're using a Doctype that triggers quirks rendering mode IE7 will default back to IE's old ways..

I've recently tested my site with IEb2. Fortunately it does work with my theme...)
