Drupal does support
Drupal does support multi-site installations, but it can be a little tricky to have it working properly.

I doubt the number of sites has a big influence
I am not sure what ask4prasath means with Drupal not supporting multi site.
Multi site is explained here: http://drupal.org/getting-started/6/install/multi-site
As far as the ability of Drupal to handle a particular number of sites is concerned: I don't think the number of sites is a real issue here. The issue is the amount of traffic that the sites will generate and the load this will put on the database server.
