I am using the Blue Lagoon theme from the AF 1.x-dev.

But there is no user picture in the left author pane. Is that intended or/and can I get it?

I know it is working in the new 2.x but I have to stay with the 1.x because of the relation to OG forum.

AP 1.x has the user picture as well. I don't really have a guess why yours doesn't. If you are using the devel module, you can put a dsm() into the preprocess and see if the user picture is getting set in there.
