Author Pane

Author Pane provides information about the author of a node, comment, or profile page. From core, it displays the user picture, name, join date, online status, contact link, and profile information. In addition, it gathers data from many user related contributed modules via the preprocess system and puts it together in a modifiable template file.

Advanced Forum and Advanced Profile Kit will use Author Pane automatically. It can also be used independently of those modules by making use of the provided block, the theme function, or the panels integration.

Important note:

The conversion to Panels 3 has required some changes to the included Panels content type that make it incompatable with Panels 2. I considered supporting both versions but was told that Panels 2 will be deprecated and unpublished as soon as Panels 3 beta comes out so decided it wasn't worth it. At the moment, this only affects the dev version. The 1.0 version is still compatable with Panels 2. Depending on the timing of the Panels 3 beta, I will likely hold off on the 1.1 release until then. If you need Panels 3 support, the dev snapshots will be keeping up with changes to Panels 3 as best as I can.

5.x: The 5.x version is done. If there are enough bugs reported to warrant it, I will make bugfix releases but it will not be getting any new features. I plan to continue supporting it until D7 comes out but soon will not be using this version at all myself.

6.x: 1.0 has been released. At this point, I am unlikely to add features but will consider adding more module integrations since they are self contained in seperate files and won't break what's already there. If I find I need significant changes to go with Advanced Forum 2.x, I may open a 2.x branch.
