I removed the link to http://themegarden.org/

That site was quite valuable - it seems the domain has lapsed. I think we should be open to adding it back if they get a new domain or if someone else sets up a similar service.

I agree. If the page holder seemed more temporary I would have given it more time before changing it.

I emailed http://drupal.org/user/109264

It seems that themegarden.org is down - possibly a lapsed domain registration. Since that site is a valuable asset to Drupal I wanted to see if there were any plans to bring the site back.

A drupal.org webmaster issue was filed about this at http://drupal.org/node/692530

Title: http://drupal.org/project/themes links to an Ads site » themegarden url on http://drupal.org/project/themes

themegarden.org seems to be back up.

Are we comfortable listing a third-party site in the theme term description?

There was a themes.drupal.org sub-domain, but it has been removed time ago.

I don't know the exact reason for closing it, but or either that sub-domain is rebuilt again, or we put the link to the external site. As new sub-domains have been created to do things before done in external sites (or they are planned to be created), I would be more favorable to create again themes.drupal.org.
