I created an alphabetic (a-z) index module for node titles and was wondering if anyone has experience creating Keyword in Context (KWIC) displays using PHP/MySQL.

Source for the module is here at alpha_index.module.phps. I apologize if my code is poor. Any suggestions on how to code this are appreciated.

This looks to me like a really useful module - I've installed it here. I'm surprised there hasn't been more interest in it.

It also makes me wonder whether anyone has ever considered creating a module that would produce or list an index of key terms that would link to all articles and comments that contain those terms - just as a book index provides references to pages that contain the term. I realize that the search module does this in a way, but it would be very useful to be able to browse a list of indexed terms (which presumably would have to be created manually) and find relevant posts that way.

There are other ideas for making Drupal system content browsable/findable. For instance, I've suggested that we could make systems with multiple taxonomies (facets) browsable using facetted navigation, e.g. as demonstrated by FacetMap. But most people don't see the value in such an idea because they don't have sites with large taxonomies. I don't have the energy or time lately to do specifications and screen wireframes to demonstrate how these types of ideas should be implemented, though, so the ideas slip through the cracks.

This does look like another really useful browsing option. A google search shows that there are a bunch of sites using this too.

This is a great module, does anyone have any idea how to get it to list and sort non Latin alphabets? I am using Hebrew on my site and can't get the alphabet letters to show. How do I encode them to Unicode?
