'first' and 'last' class to blocks for styling gets overridden by Block Translation

Not so sure if this is a "bug report" or "support request".

I have started a discussion (http://drupal.org/node/687566) in the Fervens Theme project. With their I have been able to pinpoint that the problem is coming from Block Translation.

The problem is the snippet that I am using to add first and last classes to my blocks in my template.php gets overridden somehow by Block Translation. When I enable Block Translation, the classes disappear, when I disable it, they reappear.
