adding covering letter

thanks for a great module. I've pretty much got it all working how i want it but i need a bit of help on the following issue. don't need to be too specific just point me in the right direction and I'll have a crack of dealing with it.

i'm using drupal 6 and using views (not views 2)

When some one clicks to apply for a job it automatically say's you've applied and links up your resume with the job for the employer. What I'd like to do is allow a job applicant to attach a covering letter to their application.

In the sohrt term I'm going to put in another field in the resume node for a covering note but of course this will not be job specific and not as useful as being able to have a job specific covering letter.

any guidence will be gratefully recieved.
