Hello,

Currently the first image in the field becomes the avatar image. Therefore, users must reorder the images in a field so that their avatar preference is at the top which also requires an explanation on the page to the user.

I would like to request a new feature request where a user can click to designate which image in the field is the avatar image. For example, at default the first image is set to the avatar image. When a user hovers over the other images in the field a link to "set as avatar image" shows.

Would this be a new feature that the maintainer would consider implementing?
This will vastly improve user experience in selecting their image for their avatar.

Yes I would like to implement such feature eventually, however it's unclear what would be best way to do it. Maybe I will implement it later together with image node selection feature. From the point of UI they are similar things.
