Although it is about the display of fivestars module, I believe the issue is actually more about the views module. I am sorry if I am wrong. I tried in 4 different browsers (firefox, safari, google chrome, and opera), and it is Opera browser that provides the display that I want.

I set two columns display for a block view, a title and a fivestars display, in a table style. In firefox, safari, and google chrome browsers, the text in the title column and the fivestars are displayed in two different lines, which makes more space. The fivestars is located above the title line. In Opera browser, they are displayed in the same line. How can I have them displayed in the same line? Is this a specific browser issue that may not be solveable?

This is likely to be about the CSS for the fivestar widget. Moving to fivestar queue.

I almost think that way too. But Opera browser display, which is different from the other three browsers, makes me think about the Views issue. Anyway. I will bring this to the the fivestars ....

I don't know whether this is the best solution or if this is applicable to different themes. I am using Nitobe theme, and here is my solution.

Locate reset.css file in: nitobe>styles>framework>reset.css. In line 27, I disabled (or delete, if you prefer) the entire line saying "vertical-align: baseline.". And you will have both the text and the fivestars in line.

Drupal 6 is now end of life, and is no longer supported. So Drupal 6 issues for Fivestar are being closed as "Closed (won't fix)". However, we don't want users who are porting from Drupal 6 (or 7) to D8 to feel unwanted, so if you have any migration issues, please open them as Drupal 8 issues.
