Morningtime developed a social community platform based on Drupal CMS. Our local TEDxMunich event is held on June 7th at the BMW Museum in Munich, Germany. The website's purpose is solely to facilitate an "online user bonding" between likeminded people, and to watch the LiveStream on June 7th. The livestream is a service of www.livestream.com and we make use of Twitter, Facebook, Gigya Socialize, Flickr and AddThis to connect with our users (see links below).

About TEDxMunich

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxMunich. At our TEDxMunich event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

About TED

TED is an annual event where some of the world’s leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. “TED” stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design – three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. And in fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline. Attendees have called it ‘the ultimate brain spa’ and ‘ a four-day journey into the future.’ The diverse audience – CEOs, scientists, creatives, philatropists-is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, who have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono.

The website was built using Flickr, FeedAPI, Embedded Field, Boost, Gigya Socialize, Views-Panels-CCK and many others!

Now also added with a simple mobile website,

Made possibly by the Mobile Tools module, working alongside Browscap and WURFL for redirecting and detecting mobile devices.

I do not think there is anything wrong with the design of the site as such, but after seeing the front page, i am left with one burning question; What the devil is TED? It's not explained anywhere on the front page what it is, without knowing that, the page is impossible to understand, the video is no help at all.
(impressive line-up BtW, perhaps you should include some pictures of these past events on the front page, people like seeing familiar faces)

TED is www.ted.com

TEDx is a local event, so it's targeted to the "in-crowd" who already know about TED. We do explain what TED is in the "About TED" section in the main menu.
