When the iCal icon is clicked, I'm prompted to open the calendar.ics file in Microsoft Outlook. When I do that, Outlook throws an error:

Cannot importvCalendar file.
This error can appear if you have attempted to save a recurring Lunar appointment in iCalendar format.
To avoid this error, set the appointment option to Gregorian instead of Lunar.

I've attached a copy of the file to this report. Anyone else seen this?

I've seen that too... There needs to be some work to the code to allow Outlook to read in Drupal's iCal files.

Is it just for recurring items that the date format needs to be changed?

No, it happens with all appointments.
