I need a CVS account to write and manage the project page. I am not able to edit it with my current permissions.

Since this is my assigned responsibility as worked out among the various sponsors and maintainers of this new module, I cannot perform my duty unless I can edit the page.

sorry, i'm not getting what the problem is.

because i am a good writer and know the new module inside and out, i am tasked to write and maintain this page: http://drupal.org/project/nodetable

except that i cannot edit that page, so i cannot do this - and that means someone else on the team has to do that work and that is not what we have agreed in terms of assignments.

i am also likely to write additional documentation of the type you describe, but i know i do not need special permissions to do that and that is not the issue before us here.

if there is another way to grant me permission to edit the /nodetable project page, that would be fine, too. i just need access to edit this page on an on-going basis.

right, i understand this in the general case - cvs accounts are generally for the purpose of code writers and the developers normally are responsible for writing/maintaining the project page. And this explains why so many project pages are so unhelpful.

but in this instance, we would like to have someone (i.e., me) who is more skilled at writing to be responsible for the project page - as well as some of the other documentation. since i cannot contribute code to the project, this is seen as a reasonable split of responsibilities.

i am not talking here about writing a 20-volume piece of documentation and jamming it onto the project page, so perhaps i am describing this request wrong. i am talking about writing the project page as part of my general responsibilities on the module for documentation. it will be a project page like other projects pages - though i hope more informative than the norm (without being overly long).

you are saying your procedures are not flexible enough to allow that. i don't get that.

having been thru one other situation like this on d.o. before - like the time i tried to create a doc page with an HTML table in it - sometimes it feels like process completely overwhelms common sense.

ok. i think he tried that and didn't seem to be able to do it. can you be more specific how this is done?

we are talking about the actual project page here. not a general documentation page.

the maintainer has checked again.

he says: "there is no way to add you as a co-maintainer of the module without you having a CVS account"

he asks for more detailed instructions how to accomplish this, please.

thank you for changing the ownership. i'm not sure exactly what that means, but i see that i now have an edit tab. we'll work out any other implications.

as to your question about why: do you want the long version or the short?

it has been a long and incredibly time consuming saga - which partly explains why i might sound aggravated here. if so, i apologize for that.

yes, i have to admit being quite shocked how much deference was shown to the guy earlier on despite the obvious shortcomings. you would have thought there'd be some sort of code of conduct that maintainers sign up. but clearly not.

i really had no idea what would happen this time around. i half expected we would be told to go pound sand as we were before, but thankfully not.

i'm tempted to make an overly forthright comment about my chief lesson learned out of this, but it is probably best kept to myself.

how do i add maintainers to the project? like i need to add Andrew back in right now so he can actually manage his part of this.

i understand this is done off a 'CVS Access' tab, but I don't see that.

fwiw, this seems an awful lot of work to go thru when we could do it ourselves if i had CVS Access. the reasoning still escapes me. what is the logic here again?

i really don't understand the tone you've taken with me or the deep set anger. your endless stream of excuses and constantly changing logic is also tiresome.

you should be aware these latest posts and many of the ones from last fall were carefully pre-coordinated with amariotti - like down to the specific words used - so if you think these views are unique to me, you are incorrect.

both of us have jobs to do and they need to be done using the functionality of your module on production D6 sites - except your code doesn't work on D6. we are trying to get it to work on D6 .

all this crap about not being able to write code on your birthday, the legality of your code, your aversion to co-maintainers, and all this other bullsh*t you've posted has made this harder to do than it needed to be.

andrew and i have both been completely baffled by your responses.

regardless, i appreciate the expression of willingness to work together - even if the offer is made 6 months too late and in an extremely offputting way.

personally, i can't say i am eager to go this route. but i will refer my colleagues to your posts and we'll discuss it. we'll come back with a collective decision. this will probably not be until early next week since it is now saturday.

but i am missing an actual 'attach' button as, for instance appears below on this node.
