Definitely! I'm at DrupalCon SF right now and learning about all the cool new things in Drupal 7. I'm not sure when I'll get to the port yet. Since I rely on heavily other modules, those will need to be ported first.
According to Dries, it looks like Drupal 7 will be released sometime between June and September.
Great news! I really like the metaprofile idea behind SEO checklist. A similar module would be great for a lot of other considerations (like "performance checklist", "forum checklist" (an outdated hint)…
No, I am not asking you if you in the mood for these ones :) I am just pointing out that increasing choice/complexity require some use-case management and you checklist metaprofile is a great innovation!
Keep up the good work
(by the way: someone at Drupal Modules complains about lack of documentation. It was two years ago, though)
* pathauto - has an alpha version and pledges to have a 1.0 release when D7 is released
Note that I think you may be confusing this module with the SEO Checklist module which lets you check of SEO-related tasks as you do them. SEO Friend doesn't have a checklist. But, maybe you were suggesting to add such a thing?
so Meta Tags is not yet released for D7. I hope Dave a speedy recovery!!! I've had pneumonia and it's not fun :(
It won't make sense for me to do a D7 of SEO Friend until Meta Tags has a beta release since it heavily relies on that module.
There were a ton of changes to the D6 version of nodewords that made it hard to keep up for the D6 version of SEO Friend... I'd like to avoid that this time around ;)
I was waiting for a beta version of metatag to be available though maybe I'll start soon anyway... I'll check with the module maintainer to see if he expects the API to change from alpha to beta.
That was quick response, that means you do care! :)
As I see it is recommended release so it seems to me it is ready enough. I haven't checked other projects SEO friend depends on, but as many I'd like to see it released as soon as possible.
Yep, I care ;) I just tried out the Meta tags module and it appears to work, so maybe it's okay to do the port. I'm finishing up writing a book right now so I may not be able to start until mid February but I'll see what I can do. I will need *testers* once there is a beta release, so you can help there!
As we all need it I'm sure others will jump in. I'd suggest you maybe to try to do something quick and we'll pick up the testing and reporting so it could be better and faster toward some release. Of course, you'll ad then Version 7.x-1.x-dev so we can change thread appropriately.
I'm glad you're doing a book, I suppose some about D7 and SEO? The true love..
What would you say about SEO Tools and similar modules, are there some overlapping?
juliaset - please use the "follow" buttons next to the issue summary rather than posting in an issue thread just to subscribe. This creates a lot of noise in issue threads and in people's dashboards (especially for maintainers of popular modules with lots of issues).
Unfortunately, my life this last year+ has been extremely crazy. I've been working incredibly long hours (sometimes as much as 100 hours/week) and not even spending time with my own kids. I even ended up in the ER recently and I think it was partially (wholly?) due to overworking. I'm trying to remedy that now soon... I plan to have my first vacation with my family in well over a year.
So... although I'd love to have the time to port this module to D7, I just don't see it happening. This project is marked "seeking co-maintainers" but no one has stepped up. I'd be happy to hand over the maintainership entirely if someone was interested.
Sorry about that. I'm sure that's not the answer that you were hoping for but that's the state of affairs.
I spent a little time tonight to start a very preliminary upgrade of the module to Drupal 7. There's still plenty of work to be done on it, but it's a start. The module installs and most of the pages now load without fatal errors. There are still a lot of queries that need to be updated to reflect database API changes. Plus, some of the modules SEO Friend depends on have changed significantly.

kristen polI looked at the state of nodewords, page_title & pathauto for Drupal 7:
* nodewords - will become a more appropriately named "metatags" for Drupal 7 (http://drupal.org/project/metatags) - no dev version yet
* page_title - has a dev version
* pathauto - has an alpha version and pledges to have a 1.0 release when D7 is released
Note that I think you may be confusing this module with the SEO Checklist module which lets you check of SEO-related tasks as you do them. SEO Friend doesn't have a checklist. But, maybe you were suggesting to add such a thing?

kristen polI'm marking this as postponed since I need all these modules ported first.

David Latapie commentedI will follow the track!
kristen polUpdate:
metatags - still no dev release available - http://drupal.org/project/metatags
page_title - has a beta release available - http://drupal.org/project/page_title
pathauto - alpha2 release available - http://drupal.org/project/pathauto
I can start porting seo_friend once there is at least a beta version available for all 3 of these.

kristen polBook revisions will be taking awhile unfortunately... so... doesn't look like I will be able to do this until late February or early March. :(
How about I make a goal of having a stable version out before DrupalCon Denver!
Kristen
Comment #24
kristen polArgh... still working on this book... so, with DrupalCon Denver next week, I won't be able to look at porting this until after that :(
Btw, I'm totally open to adding co-maintainers :)

damienmckenna@Matt V: any further progress on your port? Metatag is (relatively) stable right now, I'd love to see what this module could bring to D7 sites.
