I created a views block of 'gallery' teaser nodes in a slideshow. (Views 6x-2.10, views gallery 6x-1.2, views attach 6x-2.2, views slide show 6x-2.0). Each gallery teaser node contains a slideshow of all images within that gallery node ( I modified the default style of 'gallery image' display from unformatted to slideshow-singleframe).
When I upgraded to views slideshow 2.1, the singleframe slide show within the gallery teaser node stopped working but the slideshow of the teaser nodes in the block still worked.
Clearing cache or changing theme to garland did not help. When I reverted back to slideshow 2.0 the problem persisted. I had to go back to database dump from backup. Can anyone please tell what went wrong?

Did you enable Views Slideshow singleframe in the modules page? (I did not...;)

Definitely yes, even deleted and reinstalled and reenabled quitea few times!!!

I also had to update each view - click on the gear besides Slideshow under Basic settings and click update and save.

Thanks for the response.
It is ridiculous to update slideshow settings in each view. I hope there will be a fix for this. I will wait until this issue is fixed before upgrading again.

There probably won't be a fix if your problem requires you to resave each view. Views doesn't make it easy to update your values. Actually it's impossible for me to update values if the variables have changed. The best I can do is check if you have the old values and adjust for them. That said there were no variable changes other than additional variables that shouldn't be a problem. The easiest way for me to figure out your issue is to show me a demo site to look at that way I can see what data is output on the page and any errors that might exist.

I have the same issue, my module versions are:
Views 6.x-2.10
Views Slideshow 6.x-2.x-dev
ImageCache 6.x-2.0-beta9
ImageAPI 6.x-1.3

The only thing in my situation that had changed was Views and Views Slideshow. I have disabled, ran update on views first, then installed Views Slideshow, and then enabled them Views first then the Slideshow module second. What occurs for me is a empty content view. This is even when the view has results.

Taking your advice I started by created a completely new view and enabled the SingleFrame Slideshow. To no avail the same bug persists here as well. Maybe it would help me(im a dev), if you could let me know what exactly has changed in the way you handle things from this version and the previous versions of the module.

Whats more frustrating is installing this on a fresh site, does not generate the same error as i am seeing on my older site.

Do you have a site I can look at? I'm assuming it's the latest dev release of views slideshow

The latest version of Views Slideshow (2.1) introduces sub-modules for each slideshow style that must be enabled on the modules page when the main Views Slideshow module is updated. After enabling them, my missing views are back...but with even more and better organized display options. Nice update! Thank you.
