Well, I have updated the descroption of http://drupal.org/project/aef_external_sources so set the necessary version at 0.15.
Unfortunately, Services definition hooks is changing a lot, so newer versions are not supported. To support it, we would have to update all our internal Services definitions, check everything, and we do not have much time for that yet.
Also don't worry, even if 0.15 sounds alpha, it works well and I believe only minor changes have been added between 0.15 and 1.0.

You are right, v0.15 is pretty stable.
but, time goes... updates appear. for example, new Views 2.09+ already doesn't compatible with Services v0.15, and as a result with AEF modules :-(
as i've understood the conflict is between new Views access rules and Services v0.15. Views answers "access denied" all the time :-(((
C'est dommage....
