With the current feature freeze of Drupal 5.0, it seems a good time to startup some marketing actions. A lot of people give presentations about Drupal in their country. A couple of these people work for a company that is delivering a service based on Drupal and hence will use a presentation template based on their corporate style. But a lot of us are presenting Drupal to a wider audience while not having a standard presentation or even a standard template (layout).
To fill the need of those people, we hereby call upon the creative people that have been hacking Drupal themes, Drupal banners and Drupal templates, hack a nice Drupal template for a presentation! In fact we would like to see two thing:
- Make a standard template, for example in Impress “format”. This design should preferably be based / inspired on the current Bluebeach theme. It should also be free of copyrighted material and be distributed under a CC licence, for example the Creative Commons Attribution -NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 License
- Content! Make some slides regarding Drupal; the community, the code or the history. These slides can be in any open format (e.g. RTF, HTML) and can be incorporated into a template later.
Or if you are a winning writer and graphic guru / layout lover, do both combined. You can post your work via a link in a comment, please state under what CC-licence you are distributing the work.

Selling Points
I have found one of the hardest parts selling Drupal in a corporate enviroment is the perception that it is not:
1. Scalable
2. Sustainable
3. Won't leverage existing Windows Servers
4. And is difficult to customize and integrate
What I think would be extremely helpful is an internal sales presentation that can address the points above and focus on the long term ROI of Drupal.
Would anyone be interested in something like this?

I'm a little confused about #3. Drupal is one of the few Open Source CMS's that will run on Windows. With Windows IIS or Apache.

existing leaftlets
IMHO the existing leaflet should be used for a design and content direction (at least it was popular among the Drupal leaders). It has some obviously outdated content, but generally it is a good starting point. Note that the problem is that we don't have the editable source of this leaflet, so it needs to be redone. It is still a pretty good starting point IMHO.
For the Hungarian Drupal Conference, we are also looking for a Hungarian version of such a new leaflet, so keep the process open.

Booklet is not bad...
But really, we need to re-work it *completely* content-wise for 5.0. Since it's the *only* nicely put together piece of marketing we have, people keep clinging to it :P
As regards the thread below, it sounds like there are several people willing to give graphic skills -- we need good content.

ill have a version thats cleaned from the text done tomorrow.

Ideas might include....
a) getting a project together with an outline of things to accomplish
b) perhaps finding funding to hire a top flight graphic artist to get the ball rolling (as opposed to one of us do-it-all types, whose stuff alway looks ok, but not exactly great - I speak for myself)
which would result in
c) some new marketing materials as well as perhaps even a new way to "communicate Drupal".
Fully realize this exceeds the scope of what this post is seeking, but it is related in any case. Early buy-in from key decision makers, to at least experiment, would be desirable before getting started on anything like this, naturally.

If there is interest in using a 3D drupalicon animation I'd definitely be glad to keep working on this, it's good practice for other things I'm doing. Any suggestions for content? A bumper to put at the beginning/end of screencasts? Short viral animations to promote Drupal? Aside from being a little funny thing how would the community benefit from a few animated shorts (and by short I mean really short, like 3-15 second clips)?

Drupal Presentation Template - POT
building on Bert Boerland's start, I've created a blank Drupal-themed PowerPoint template using Master Templates (missing in Bert's example). Will follow-up with 1.0 presentation with Drupal content. But the question remains - who is the audience for the presentation? IT staff or managers?
