I would like an option when enabled, play a sound when messages arrive.
It's is interesting for example for blinds.

there was a previous issue about letting the user know about new messages (http://drupal.org/node/73466).

we should continue the play a sound part here.

I have posted a module that allows for messages to be played when a chat message is received: http://drupal.org/project/chatroom_sounds. Note: It's only tested and working with the latest versions of node.js and chatroom modules.

No, I've been working with Alex Gurov who posted a few patches that helped make this possible. This one was particularly important: #1707862: Allow for message.callback to be a list. Thanks for your attentiveness on this chatroom project. We'll hopefully be posting a couple more sub modules in the coming weeks for chatroom.
