Tinymce allows you to create "profiles" which allows you to feed different roles different tinymce configurations.

It would be nice if imce had this as well.

Examples:
Users in role1 have their own personal folder and can only upload images smaller than 500k
Users in role2 share folder named "shared1" which can contain images and pdsf
Users in role3 share folder named "shared2" which only can contains images

Really, the biggest benefit will be the ability to specify different folder locations for different roles.

it'll probably be ready for the 5.0 version and may be backported to 4.7

this is implemented for 5. and there is an unofficial 4.7 version at drupal.ufku.com/imce-47se for testing.
