It would be useful to us to have a count of profiles that have a specified term selected.

So, when selecting a country, for instance, we could show that 10 users are in that country.

I doubt that this is of interest for the user who selects the term. But it may be interesting for administrators who want to generate reports. Why not creating a View and having a country filter? If you want you can append a link to the view below the form field in your template.
