I tested this a couple of times. My observation is that unless the vocabulary used by this module is activated for the particular content type and the term is not attached while creating the node, the author is not displayed. In fact, I could attach any term from the vocabulary and that was shown as the author name.

My expectation was that once the vocabulary is tagged and a term from that is linked to the user in the Author Taxo setup, the module does the rest.

Am I missing something here?

My need is to spare the user from repeated tagging of (new) nodes.
