views slideshow: SingleFrame 6.x.2.2

the unformatted version of the view displays the three slideshow node images, I made a block and changed the style to slideshow using all default settings. It works but there is a long pause before the images show up, then after the third image is displayed, the long 'blank' space returns like it's part of the cycle. I've deleted the view and re-created from scratch, same thing happens... any ideas?

nevermind - user error, turns out I had more slideshow nodes than I thought. my bad

I don't quite understand your answer - I have this exact same issue, and it is driving me bonkers.

So, in answer to my own question: it was a matter of applying filters so that only "image" nodes were shown. The seeming delay were the other types of nodes that do not contain photos.
