Confirmation Required to Subscribe Regardless of Opt In / Opt out setting at admin/structure/simplenews

At least in 6.x-2.x at least this is solved - i've just consulted the code.

No reply, closing the issue.

It appears this issue, apparently fixed in version 6.x-2.x, has reappeared in version 7.x-1.x-dev. Regardless of setting (Hidden, Single, Double) the Simplenews subscribe block reverts to a Double opt in behavior.

There might be a commit missing from the 6.x-2.x branch that needs port.

Do you possibly know which issue / commit fixed it previously?

If you're asking me I have no idea. I have only started using the 7.x branch and don't know how it was resolved earlier. Good luck.

I have recently tried Simplenews 7 - Dev

Opt in / Opt out is set to Single at admin/structure/simplenews, yet confirmation emails are sent and required to subscribe.

Can anyone confirm if my patch in #805114: Cleanup Form creation processes fixes this issue?

Ignore this - it's an issue with the webform newsletter signup module.

This is working fine with the standard simplenews signup block.
