This issue is about branching for 2.x, which should include at least:

* Compatibility with Mailhandler 2.x (http://drupal.org/node/875364), which consists of implementing an authentication plugin and a change to the hook_mailhandler signature and a few other minor changes. I have a local version adapted for mailhandler 2.x
* Compatibility with notifications/messaging 4.x http://drupal.org/node/760452
* We'll need a new version of mailsave because of signature change in hook_mailhandler_post_save
