I need to implement something similar to what the folks at Lullabot have done with their homepage slideshow

http://www.lullabot.com/

is this easily implemented with modules and views? Which ones can make that style of fade in/out and small button navigation available? if you can point me in the direction of tutorials or best module combinations to make this happen it'd be great. thanks!

They're using the Views Rotator Module... could also use the Views Slideshow module for this. See this page for a comparison of similar modules.

I did find a Views Slideshow tutorial from the Mustardseed Media folks on exactly how to get this done. Very useful.
