I have a site where Forums are not activated. The default mailhandler content type is set to announcement, a type that exists on the site. Lest there be any confusion, the mailbox commands include type: announcement, as well as status: 0, format: 1. All other commands work. I have also tried setting the default content type to story and used type: announcement but no joy.
Nonetheless, all new nodes created by Mailhandler are Forum nodes. If you look at the content list the Node type field is blank and you cannot open the node to view it. If you turn on Forums the node type appears in the contact list.
IOW, Mailhandler is failing to create nodes of the proper type. I have had this problem with the current production version and the dev version downloaded today, 8/30.
Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling mailhandler and listhandler with no change.

rsbecker commentedI found the problem. If you put tid: in the command set only forum topics are created.
Perhaps I missed it somewhere in the documentation. Perhaps this is by design. But I'm not sure why a forum topic would be created if the tid used is not associated with the forums vocabulary. IOW, I used a taxonomy term that was associated with my Announcement content type, but a forum topic was created?
