I suggest to make on /admin/settings/linksdb possibility to select 'open in new window' as default.
I.e. to select type of link opening once in settings and *not* in each link.

Manages the database of links.

Show "[X Clicks]" by links
Show or hide the number of clicks a link has had

Show "report link as dead"
Show or hide the link to report a link as dead

Show "Open the link in a new window"
Open the link in the same or new window

I will be providing a conversion function to the Web Links module, which already has this.

A conversion function to the Web Links module is available for both 5.x and 6.x. That module provides this feature.
