Does anyone know how it would be possible to have a select box field (drop down) that is similar to this:

What's your favorite color?
-Red
-Blue
-Green
-Other*

And selecting other allows the use of a custom value to be typed in, like "orange" or "yellow"

This wouldn't add to the available values in the CCK field setup. Just in this specific content piece that was being created or edited.

I need this too. Also: the added feature of being able to select whether the newly created value gets appended to the allowed values list, and possibly the ability to choose which roles have permissions to effect each case. So the field configuration interface would have the following additions:

- allow users to add new values
- grant this permission to these roles (drop-down roles)

- add new value to allowed values list
- do this only for these roles (drop-down roles)

Please i need to list roles as dropdown on my registration form so while registering user could select what types of user type they want to register.

Please does anyone have any clue regarding that.

Did anyone find out how you can allow a user to add a value to an "allowed values" list for a select box?
