It would be really grate if we could also view images on term view with subcategory images, in away that somewhat replicates taxonomy context, but including image display
Very nice module, thank you,

BoogieBug commentedCould you please give me some example, so, I can understand the requirement better?
Do you mean, in the term view (e.g., /taxonomy/term/1), we might have the image of the vocabulary (according to what supplied by the taxonomy_iamge) also?

mcreature commentedThank you for your reply Chawalit
>> Do you mean, in the term view (e.g., /taxonomy/term/1), we might have the image of >> the vocabulary (according to what supplied by the taxonomy_image) also?
Yes it would be grate to have the image and term description from( taxonomy image ) display on viewing the term = ( category ), for instance while viewing taxonomy/term/1 it would display the taxonomy image if one was supplied for that term or recursively from a parent term, though I can only see this being truly useful with subcategory display
As an example the ( taxonomy context module ) displays a terms description text on term view and can also display sub terms = ( child categories) and there descriptions while viewing the term
Here is a real world example …..
This is viewing a term called Phylum Arthropoda, and its sub terms called subphylum chelicerata and Uniramia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Discription: Insects, Arachnids, Myriapods, Crustacians, etc.
there are 30 major groups called phyla, of which the phyla
Arthropods belongs to
sub-phylum: Chelicerata
Discription: Chelicerates are arthropods that have the body divided into a cephalothorax and abdomen. They have no antennae; the first cephalothoracic appendages are chelicerae, followed usually by a pair of pedipalps and four pair of walking legs. Greek: cheile, claw + keras, horn
sub-phylum: Uniramia
Discription: Invertibrates, This group contains the centipedes, millipedes and insects, which are mostly terrestrial arthropods. They have one pair of antennae, and a pair of mandibles. Latin: unus, one + ramus, branch
As you can see the term descriptions are displayed with both term and subterms
What I would like is the same type of thing with image display. This way a user can continually view child terms with images as deep as the tree structure allows. Like a drill down effect with parent child relationships. I hope this example helps

BoogieBug commentedI've released the new version. It includes the new feature that might meet your requirement. Please take a look, and feel free to add more comments. Thanks!

mcreature commentedI just tested your new commits, very nice.
It’s not what I was referring about but a very nice implementation indeed
I was referring to having a listing of images on term view not just vocabularies views, though this may be a better feature request for a new module or possibly the Taxonomy context module, I just thought I would post a feature request here first as this kind of functionality might better describe a (Taxonomy image listing module)
I was also re thinking a possible better solution than the one I had earlier mentioned above, by creating submodules or another module that creates a taxonomy block or block sets that display images of child categories, from the current term being viewed, e.g.- while viewing (taxonomy/term/1) you would see a block listing images of only term/ones child categories, possibly with the option to display term descriptions text. These references, images, term headers, etc, could link to the actual term like they do in vocabulary list views; I really think this type of implementation is important for Drupal right now as there is a strong need for a relational context type listing, e.g. (Context sensitive parent child type listings, for different applications, such as, Classifieds, link directories, Gallery categories, Store categories, News categories, more comprehensive node to parent info, etc.
Note: I have installed and worked with nearly all Drupal listing and relationship type modules and thus far none of them fully implant the type of functionality I am describing here, and I have also been reading post requests for nearly two years now on Drupal, from people wanting more of a context sensitive relational approach to describe there content. There are many new and old modules that come close to achieving some of this functionality, but there are also a lot of modules doing the same thing with only a slightly different approach, thus the reason for my request….Below I have described some of my thoughts of how this might work or might be implemented into a module. I am not familiar enough with coding modules my self but I would be happy to set up a testing site, and contribute in any way I can.
Ideas.................................................................................................................
(Parent child relationships with context sensitive info e.g. images, description text, etc.)
1) Create a block type listing for each vocabulary that displays the child terms under the current term being viewed..
2) Possibly include additional blocks or option setting for parent term display for the current term being viewed.
3) Possibly include an option setting for vocabulary tree depth though I think default settings should only include first level child or parent terms.
4) Include the ability to include context sensitive info for terms being displayed, e.g. images, description text, headers, etc, like taxonomy list does now
5) Make it possible to easily define the way the images, descriptions text, headers, etc, get outputted for display, like taxonomy list does now.

nancydruI'd be happy to work on this, but I am totally not understanding what you want here. Can you draw a picture ir give some kind of an example, please?

mcreature commentedHi Nancy thanks for your interest and help.
It has been a while since I used the TAXONOMY LIST MODULE, as it had not been updated in quite some time, and was crashing things on my site, though if you are updating it. I may still have interest in using it
As for a mock up, it may be easier to explain briefly, since you seem to be versed with different types of taxonomy modules, including your recent work on the Glossary module. Thanks by the way, for all your contributions.
Anyway, basically what I wanted in this issue is a way to drill down in the categories, while still showing the taxonomy list view, including the images and term description text. that's it.
Example: how the taxonomy context module displays subterms, with the addition of including the taxonomy image implementation, and the table view like the taxonomy list module does, in fact I posted a feature request to the taxonomy context module last week requesting this very thing = image module implementation for subcategories, and possible taxonomy list table style usage.
I will post link here later. as the idea is being highly considered.
Another display example: Picture the way the image gallery module displays images in gallery view, the only difference in this case, is that the image display for categories, would come from taxonomy images, instead of the image nodes in the categories. and you can continue to drill down threw the categories while keeping the same category display type
I hope this is clear enough, If not I will post a mock up or links.
Thanks again Nancy, Best Regards, Lowell

mcreature commentedHere is the link to my feature request for taxonomy context module
http://drupal.org/node/210782
Note: when I posted this request I should have opened several different request, as I see it was very confusing and stretched out. Perhaps my main request was also better suited for the taxonomy context module to begin with, as this is primarily a listing module.
If the taxonomy list module becomes more of a ui for other modules to hook into for table style listing display, it would be great, as there is already so much overlap in taxonomy type modules.
Feel free to close this issue, I can open a new issue, if you feel the drill down listing is worth while for taxonomy listing.
Thanks for all your work on the taxonomy image module the new features are great

nancydruI have a request in to the Webmaster queue (http://drupal.org/node/232602) to give me access to commit fixes and new features for this module. When (if) they give it to me, the issue queue will almost totally vanish overnight as I have an updated version of the module with nearly everything fixed. They are "following procedure" and making me wait two weeks (at least) even though I emailed Boogiebug over a week ago.
TL does indeed use Taxonomy Image, which I also maintain. It also show the child terms. I agree that the hierarchy could be better displayed, but I am still trying to figure out how within the current design. I think it would be relatively simple to put children (sub-terms) into collapsible fieldsets, but I'm not sure that would do what you want. Unfortunately, today, in particular, and this week, in general, has been emotionally trying so I am not thinking totally clearly. I still am not completely understanding your request here. Perhaps I should revisit TC.
Your idea of providing an API for taxonomy modules is interesting and may fit in with all of my taxonomy tidbits that I'd like to put into a module (BTW, a small part of them will be in this module when I get access).

mcreature commentedThanks for your response again Nancy, I certainly hope they approve you commit access, as it has been quite a while since any updates, and the queue has been filling up.
Perhaps putting children (sub-terms) into collapsible fieldsets would be useful, although you are right not quite what I had in mind. although what I had in mind may not really be that reasonable for the taxonomy list module out of the box anyway, if the TLM becomes more of a UI for other modules to utilize, that would be great, and may also be a better way to provide the same drill down functionality threw another module.
Basically what I wanted is to provide consistent image display, while drilling down on terms through out the vocabulary hierarchy.
the same thing could be accomplished with the Taxonomy image module, if there was an additional setting for showing images on term display, such as there is for node display now. and If the TLM module was more of a UI than in addition, it could possibly be used for display styling, For instance 3 column layout, 4 column layout, etc.

nancydruWell, Taxonomy Image is another one of the modules I'm maintaining, so you might want to clarify your request and submit it as a feature there.
I think you're getting close to this same request: http://drupal.org/node/235849. I'm looking at Taxonomy Lineage to see if it might enable a solution.
Hopefully I will have access in a week. I've got almost all issues fixed already, so one commit (and one more for 6.x) will nearly wipe out the issue queue.

nancydruI think what you are looking for, as I explained to someone the other day, is a client-side script that can show the immediate needs while downloading the rest of the hierarchy in the background. To my knowledge, this does not exist, and is far beyond my capabilities to accomplish.
