When trying to create a branch with a name that's only possible for a tag or the other way round, one gets a nice explanatory error message (#90969).

It would be good to have something similar for *all* error messages becaue of a wrong tag/branch name as well, e.g. something like "YOURTAGNAME is not a valid name for a tag. See http://drupal.org/appropriatehandbookpage for details on allowed tag names".

yup, that'd be great. just needs another easy-to-add setting in xcvs-taginfo.php and a handbook page to point to. ;) i just added this issue to http://drupal.org/node/90436#future-work
