Now where Drupal 7 is in beta stage, this module still has only a release for Drupal 5. Thus I think it's more than time to push out something that can be called a release for Drupal 6. I'm using it successfully on a D6 site and think it at least have alpha or beta quality already.

This is really strange, there is still only a D5 beta release out, while there are three D6 branches (1.x, 2.x and 3.x) but no releases, even not an 6.x-1.0-alpha1. What's so problematic in just rolling out 6.x-1.0-alpha1 from the current 6.x-1.x-dev?

I am hesitant to make my latest release the official one without the original creator of the module having a chance to weigh in since I'm not the maintainer at this time. There are a couple items I would like to address before making a final release on the 6 branch before going on to begin development on 7.

however, i see no reason to add a 6.x-3.x branch if you only add minor features.

Please merge with 6.x-2.x and remove the 6.x-3.x release...
If you're uncertain if a feature makes sense (in that path), don't commit it and ask for review! Thus making a 6.x-3.x release is even worse to just committing it in 6.x-2.x

There has never ever been released a D6 version, but there are 6.x-1.x, 6.x-2.x and 6.x-3.x branches, however nobody cares about supporting or releasing a version. Very frustrating - that's the reason I am no longer using this module on any site.

This really needs drupal 6 & 7 releases.

One very good reason is that the security team would then support it: See #2121459: XSS vulnerability when users create polls

It seems that this module is currently unsupported.

You could try contacting the maintainers via their contact forms to confirm this.
If it is unsupported you could request being added as a co-maintainer and then action things yourself.

Unfortunately at this stage I would say that is your best chance.

Thank you rooby, but I don't think I have enough experience to become a maintainer of such a complex module like this. Also, Drupal 8 is soon out, and many things in core have changed since Advanced poll was first written, so maybe it is better to start from scratch with a new and more simple module instead of fixing the old one...

In relation to drupal 8 it is also worth noting that the base poll module has been removed from drupal core in drupal 8.

It is now in contrib at https://www.drupal.org/project/poll

D6 is EOL hence this issue won't be fixed (or) attended. So closing it.
