quiz won't validate a question if there isn't an answer submitted :(
bad, bad.. i try to fix this by adding a default/none choice...
i'm still investigating if there's not a better way to treat the problem.

That's actually a great point. Esp in light of your alternate points system, and considering other aptitude tests (such as the GRE here in the states), not answering hurts you less than guessing. The only thing I would suggest is to rephrase the "no answer" option as something else. Maybe "skip this question." Actually, a better way to do this would be a site-wide setting.

quiz 3.x and higher has option to force as well as allow user to skip questions.
