'Sites Made With Drupal' page: suggestions to improve page clarity

Thanks for pointing this out. This page is a classic case of the underlying content needing a lot more time devoted to it. Basically, we know it needs work :)

There is also content in http://drupal.org/forum/25 that contains info that is promoted to the Sites Made With Drupal.

OK, two things

1) the homepage link Sites Made with Drupal that goes to http://drupal.org/cases when the case studies themselves are populated from http://drupal.org/forum/25

I think http://redesign.drupal.org/cases needs retitling to Sites Made with Drupal since it's SUCH a prominent page now, and a link to the forum with

2) There's also http://drupal.org/success-stories

Some guidance from the rest of the team would be appreciated.

Would linking to the Forum be bad? It's got random content, but it is consistent with what is being shown on the home page, and is current.

Linking to the forums would be bad in the sense that it will be hard to leverage very prolific options in that one, making it hard to serve the purpose of this link.

Got a +1 from Amazon to retitle http://drupal.org/cases to "Sites Made With Drupal", so that's done on the live site.

@macjules The new Features section (drupal.org/features) have lots of info re: modules. Can someone come up with a line of copy that we can incorporate on http://drupal.org/case that can be linked to http://drupal.org/features?

here it still says 'case studies' and not 'sites made with drupal'.

I see "Sites made with Drupal" and the other listed wording changes on http://redesign.drupal.org/cases now.

Hi, I am going to re-open this issue so we can add some more improvements.

We should add a new path: drupal.org/sites-made-with-drupal

We should remove the link to teamsugar, it looks like they've moved off their heavily modifited version of Drupal 4.7 to some other platform. I would suggest replacing it with http://symantec.com/connect or http://cnngo.com

In news puplishing we should point to: Economist.com and Examiner.com

For intranet/corporate websites: we should point to tesla.com and look for other big brands. We might want to link to Open Atrium and Drupal commons here as well.

Under resource directories: We might want to consider adding consumersearch.com

Under education I would add one of the big Texas schools and the harvard science site.

For conference and camps, pointing to Drupalcon DC would be good.

For resource directories: data.gov.uk is probably a good example as well.

We could also curate some particular good sites for Government: http://groups.drupal.org/node/19885

Neil had suggested that this become a three column layout with categories.

So brianV in #drupal pointed out it's not as easy as it used to be to find showcases on the front page (which I don't personally think is a bad thing).

I disagreed and pointed out the 'sites made with Drupal' block. Thinking the title of that block would link me to a view, I clicked on it, and noticed it leads to http://drupal.org/cases, this is a very old page, that is only very intermittently maintained, as you can see by:

Resource Directories
If you want a central directory for a given topic, Drupal suits your needs well. Users can register and suggest new resources while editors can screen their submissions. Example: Entomology Index

This isn't the prettiest Drupal site in the world, it's also running on 4.6.6 - http://www.ent.iastate.edu/list/CHANGELOG.txt

Now I don't think we can link to http://drupal.org/forum/25 either, but maybe a view that does nodes in that forum that have been promoted to the front page? Really /cases should just be retired, we're beyond manually maintaining lists of Drupal sites in HTML I think.

@jgavin: That page is currently being reworked, as described in this issue. Do not change the issue status values without good cause.

I apologize for that, after 5yrs im still a Newbie. I created CoolFords with help from several Drupal freelancers over the years, im just trying to get the word out in an overly saturated automotive enthusiast website market. I would be very grateful if my website was included in the next update. Thank you.

@jgavin: No problem; just wanted to clarify.

In regards to design:

I like the idea of a multi-column layout.

I envision 3 or 4 columns, and 1 row per section. Each row containing (linked) thumbnails and titles with a brief description of each case study. This portion could be dynamically loaded from the view, providing a different set of case studies upon each visit.

Additionally, beneath each sections' thumbnail row could be a brief description of the category and additional case studies features in that category as text links (whichever case studies didn't make it to the thumbnail-row).

Does the Case Study have to be promoted to the frontpage before it can get added to the 'Sites Made with Drupal' page?
