Task Description
The Outline Designer is a project that helps users create outlines of content quickly. It is a large usability project that helps improve the User interface of Drupal when it comes to outlining content. Since most of the UI is visual improvements, I think the project (and Drupal as a whole) could greatly benefit from the creation of another GPL icon set.
Deliverable
A set of icons to replace the ones currently used by the outline designer. This would involve the creation of new versions of every icon in the outline designer images folder. Most icons are 16x16 and any generated icons would have to match the dimensions of the originals. As bonus it would be nice to also include icons for the following common content type names (also would have to be 16x16 and named {name}.png): book, page, story, group, assignment, image, video, image gallery, folder, link, front page, node.

yannickooDid you take a look at http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/silk/previews/index_abc.png?
I like the icons and many module are using them. We could use them, so that we don't have to create a new icon set.

btopro commentedMajor problem with famfamfam is that they are creative commons and incompatible with GPL. Yeah we can tell people to go off, download and install them. But as this is a usability enhancement, installation needs to be as simple as possible in my mind. There also aren't a ton of GPL icons out there that Drupal doesn't just snag from other projects like *nix distros (other then the lullabot ones).

alex ua commentedI'm marking this one as RTBC- seems solid and has a mentor.

Feedback Please! :D

joseph.elkhouri commentedoops, didnt mean to change the title.. I'm not used to this site ;)

btopro commentedHi Joseph --
I like the idea of the shiny / chrome'd buttons if you will. Could you maybe darken the Collapse / Open just slightly. Most working areas are white and I had issues with light grey on white in past icon sets. I like the concepts with the add_content / close buttons. Maybe try and reduce the shine/glare used in the bottom right just slightly and I think they're golden :).
ultimately, I'd like to provide multiple icon-sets for end users to choose from so if you want to experiment with a few different style-sets your more then welcome to (no obligation though).
Welcome to the community, you'll get the site down eventually :) If you have any other questions just let me know.

joseph.elkhouri commentedI'll see if I have to make more than one style set of icons, but that'll be after I finish the first.
btopro commentedOh I wasn't asking you to make more, just letting you know the goal of the project as a whole is to allow users to customize the interface to their liking. Great start, I look forward to seeing more from the icon set!
btopro commentedWhat's the status of this?
joseph.elkhouri commentedPretty Good, here's a zip so far...
btopro commentednice! I really like the direction. rename and link icons are perfect! This project is a helper for something called 'book' so I think the open / close all's should play off of that in some way. The current ones are an open and closed book so something like that would probably be more fitting for those. Also could you move the "A" used in the resize icons up 1 pixel so there's some separation between the bottom of the letter and the bottom of the icon (kinda blends together atm). Other then that they're shaping up really well! The changes to the previous icons with the gloss and color look good too! Keep up the great work!
joseph.elkhouri commentedAlright! Thanks!
joseph.elkhouri commentedOk, Here's the zip of all the icons! What do you think?
btopro commentedI like them, a few questions / thoughts:
change_type -- Maybe make the bg alittle lighter, I like the idea with the multiple mini-icons scrolling by but they're kinda hard to see on the gray
edit -- move the pencil down just alittle bit, maybe a pixel or 2
node -- i'm not entirely sure what it's supposed to be though the word "node" is pretty tricky to come up with something that represents it since it is by its nature ambiguous
settings -- I don't think you need the circle around the tools, I like it, maybe just remove the circle or make it lighter
Other then that they look great! Fantastic work, the community is really going to like having more GPL icons in general and the users of my project will enjoy having some custom made iconography!
joseph.elkhouri commentedWell, all the changes have been put in place, as for the node, I made 3 different versions based on what I saw on the internet but honestly, I'd just use the letter N (node3.svg)
joseph.elkhouri commentedDo you mind (if you think i'm done) to say I'm done on the google-melange code in task? Thanks!
btopro commentedgreat work! i'll roll these into the module after christmas.
joseph.elkhouri commentedUm, I'm just wondering when you update the task to google-melange.com as completed...
btopro commentedSorry about that, never even been to that site before. I've marked it completed on the google site. Thanks for the great work
