Hi guys,
Just wanting to get our case study promoted to the front page. I have attached some images we need uploaded to d.o.
If there is something lacking for this to be a featured case study please let me know.

acGaa I am an idiot... here is the link to the case study: http://drupal.org/node/993166
Comment #2
acSorry for all the follow up comments but if a webmaster could also enable full HTML for the node, the markup should all be in place for the images to show.
acThanks for enabling HTML. I will await feedback RE featuring this case study.
acI know the d.o webmasters are extremely busy but would someone mind having a look at this when they have a spare second?
Thanks :)
Alex
Comment #5
alex ua commentedAs a post that looks at using Drupal as a SaaS, this one is definitely different than most that I've read, and it's an interesting read at that.
+1 - I definitely think this is a good candidate for the front page.
acAny d.o webmasters care to comment? I notice there is a shortage of current front page case studies as mentioned here: http://drupal.org/node/997684#comment-3825476
Comment #7
mr.baileysIndeed, does look like an interesting post for the front page.
I made some minor edits, but no time for a full review at the moment unfortunately. Some quick tips/questions:
acThanks for the feedback.
Since the input format was switched to full HTML I can no longer edit the post so I will submit changes here if that is ok.
Change:
"While having a website is nowhere as difficult as it was ten years ago, there are still some barriers that more than a handful of individuals can not negotiate. Pagebuild is designed to solve this problem. Using a very simple interface, you will can add your very own content bit by bit, and then update the site as frequently as you want."
to:
"Pagebuild [link: http://www.pagebuild.net] allows non technical users to build websites very quickly and easily. It was built on top of Drupal, with the idea behind it being to provide an editing interface that is so simple, even an adult could use it. This is a explanation of what we did and how we went about doing it (and why)."
There are a number of live sites. Some good examples are:
http://www.intrinsicinteriors.com.au
http://www.workingprogress.com.au
http://www.barbaramordini.com.au
Once again, thanks for taking the time to give useful feedback. I would love to see this on the d.o frontpage. Whilst I am biased, I do think it is a great example of how flexible Drupal is as a platform.
Cheers
Alex
Comment #9
mr.baileysThanks, I made the requested edits.
+1 from me for front-page promotion.
alex ua commentedAnyone have opinions on the date this should be posted? We're obviously past Dec. 10th and, as far as I can tell, there isn't anything else scheduled...
acFWIW - I would like to wait a few weeks. We are just about to roll out a new release that has some really cool bits to it and will make using the demo easier for people. Up to you guys though.
gdemetOkay, marking as postponed until the new site version is launched and additional info added to the case study.
acThanks George. Will update this at the beginning of January with all the new features.
gdemetIt's now mid-March, and I wanted to follow up to see if there were any updates planned for this case study.
acHi George,
I know we are well past when I said all this would be ready but it has taken longer than expected (surprise). That said, we are actually rolling out all the new stuff this week/early next week so the updates will be ready for the case study then and we can publish it.
Cheers
Alex
Comment #16
acHi George,
We are on track to release this stuff tomorrow. I will post amendments to this article when we do and then should be all good to put on the front page. Thanks for you patience.
Alex
Comment #17
acHi George,
We have finally launched the updates. Thanks for all your patience. Feel free to promote this to the front page whenever you are ready.
Cheers
Alex
Comment #18
gdemetMarking as needs review, as it's been a long time since this was originally posted and I haven't had a chance to review it yet.
Arnold Leung commentedCould you provide some information on how many people are involved with the project?
Other than this, I think its a great case study.
Arnold
Comment #20
acHi Arnold,
Over the course of the entire project four people have worked on it, all in house.
Arnold Leung commented+1 from me. Looks good.
acHi George,
Have you had a chance to review this? Let me know if you need anything more from us.
Cheers
Alex
Comment #23
gdemetThe images need to be resized and optimized for the Web. Resizing via HTML/CSS isn't acceptable.
acAttaching new images. There is a full version and a thumb version of each. I will upload a new HTML file with all the new image paths shortly.
Cheers
Alex
Comment #25
acHere is the new content for the article. All the images have been updated to include thumbnails that link to full images. The theme section has been modified to reflect the current state of the service too.
As the original article uses full HTML I no longer have the power to edit it so if some kind webmaster could update it with the new copy that would be much appreciated.
Let me know if you need anything else to finish this.
Cheers
Alex
Comment #26
acCould one of the lovely webmasters please update the original article and let me know if we need to do anything else to get this promoted?
Cheers
Alex
Comment #27
silverwing commentedAlex, I've set the input format back to filtered for you to make additional edits.
Make sure your first image is a 300x200 (50kb-ish) screenshot (for the front page of the site) per the image guidelines http://drupal.org/front-page-schedule
I haven't read the post yet nor looked at the images, but ask yourself if that many images are really necessary.
And I plan on going through the front page posts in the queue later this week.
acThanks Silverwing,
Adding new thumbnails to fit the Drupal requirements.
There are actually only half as many images in the post (thumbnail version linked to a full version). I think it does need all of these as some of the functionality is hard to describe and far better illustrated with a picture. It is also quite a long case study and the images break up the long passages of copy.
Cheers
Alex
Comment #29
acHi Silverwing,
I have updated the post to use the new thumbnails now (all 300px by 200px). Would you mind setting it back to full HTML and reviewing when you have some time.
Cheers
Alex
Comment #30
acHello,
If there are any spare webmaster eyeballs, would you mind having a look at this quickly? We need the article turned back to HTML.
Thanks
Alex
Comment #31
silverwing commentedBefore I set the input format for the images, I want to make sure there are no other textual changes (per comment #18 above.)
And please don't add no-follow to links. It's done automatically. (I removed the ones you added.)
Also...
In the "Motivation" section, you may want to change 'cheap' to 'inexpensive.'
acThanks,
The no-follow stuff was in there from cut and pasting the original article for editing. Didn't mean to include them - sorry about that.
There are no more text changes so when you are ready please change it back to HTML.
Cheers
Alex
Comment #33
acJust following up on this. Could someone please set it back to HTML and let me know if everything is ok to promote this article to the front page?
Cheers
Alex
Comment #34
lisarex commentedI was asked to review and there's a couple minor things...
1) The code block has a bunch of HTML entities. They should be ", < and >, not the entities, right?
2) There's a lot of stuff in double and single quotes. I think most of those quote marks could be removed.
3) The image that will appear on the home page makes difficult to see what it does.
Maybe just fix #1 and I'll RTBC this :)
acHey Lisa,
Thanks for taking the time to review this.
1) All fixed
2) Wow, there really were a lot of superfluous quotes. All gone.
3) I have rearranged the images to make this more useful. Hard to tell if it looks ok without seeing the Full HTML version but I think I got it right.
Cheers
Alex
Comment #36
acUpdating status
Comment #37
lisarex commentedLooks good! I think this can be promoted today (last fpp was the 10th)
silverwing commentedWe have a DrupalCon London Post that needs reviewed, so I scheduled this for the 15th
Comment #39
acThanks guys - appreciate all your help.
acHi Guys,
Did this end up getting promoted? I haven't seen it on the front page yet but I figured it might but d.o caching hard.
Cheers
Alex
Comment #41
gdemetMade a couple of minor edits and promoted.
acThanks everyone for all your help.
Excuse my ignorance but while I now see the article in the news section on the homepage I don't see it in the block with the screenshot. Is this because drupal.org caches that block or is it because items in that block are different to promoting a case study to the homepage?
Thanks
Alex
Comment #43
silverwing commentedI was thinking it was due to the initial image being linked to the full size image, so I removed the a href from it. Check to see later if that was the case.
acThanks Silverwing,
Still not seeing it, I wonder if it needs to be done manually or if we just need to wait for the cache to expire?
acAny thoughts on this from the webmasters? It is still not showing up.
acI am updating the status on this. Could one of the webmasters please let me know if something needs to be done by myself to get the case study in the frontpage block?
Thanks
Alex
Comment #47
gdemetI'm not 100% sure how it works myself, but I believe the list of sites that appears in the "Sites Made with Drupal" block is updated regularly, but not every time a new case study is promoted to the home page. I'm going to close this issue out for now, but we can revisit if it doesn't start showing up in a couple weeks.
acThank you George
Cheers
