This module enables chat rooms to be set up on Drupal sites. No additional software is required. Chat Room uses AJAX to update chats without page reloads. Chatrooms and chats are nodes, providing easy access with many other modules, such as Views, CCK and Organic Groups. The module features chat in pop-up windows, invitations and private chats.
Chatroom is aimed primarily at tight integration with Drupal, not at being a highly scalable IRC or XMPP style solution.
Drupal 6
The 6.x-2.x branch is stable, and is now (mostly) bug-fix only. Co-maintainers welcome!
Drupal 7
The 7.x-1.x branch is a more-or-less straight port of 6.x-2.x to D7, and is ready for testing. It is not under active development, but bugs will be fixed and further polish added.
The 7.x-2.x branch is under heavy development, and is completely unusable unless you are planning on hacking on it. The 7.x-2.x will integrate with the Node.js module, and get real support for facebook style one-on-one chats.
