The goal of this project is to create universal import tool allowing to easily switch over to Drupal from other CMS/Forum.
The import is supposed to be as complete as possible, allowing importing data from 3rd party addons to Drupal equivalents, importing the site structure, merging multiple sites based on different CMSes etc
Already done:
- most of the planning
- some ugly code sniplets with no comments
To do:
- finishing touches on the planning
- pluggable interface for input/output modules (input = non-drupal data, output = drupal/drupal module data)
- output module(s) for Drupal core (nodes, users, taxonomy etc)
- output modules for common Drupal modules (pathauto, image, image gallery, cck, etc)
- input module for core Joomla (will use existing projects)
- input module for core Simple Machines Forum (1.1.x, since 1.0.x -> 1.1.x is very simple)
- input module for core Wordpress
- input modules for most popular Joomla, SMF and Wordpress components/modules/plugins/modifications
Hopefully once the first 4 positions of my todo list are done more people will participate. First releases are planned in late January 2008.
