Date Repeat Instance provides edit and delete links per instance of a repeating date series. When you delete an instance, it automatically sets the exception in the repeating rule. When you edit an instance, it breaks the new instance into its own node, and sets the exception in the original node.

It's also smart... if there are two dates left in a series, and you delete or detach one of them, the repeating rule is removed completely in the original node (since an event with one instance by definition is not "repeating"). It also won't provide edit/delete links to events which have only one instance.

All in all, it's a simple solution which bridges the gap between the out-of-the-box Date Repeat API module, and a full-fledged repeating event solution like this. It's similar to Node Repeat, but doesn't require any configuration, doesn't store data in a separate table, and only breaks off the instances you need to customize separate from the series.
