Drifter allows any field to be floated left or right by providing a simple field formatter setting. A common use-case is floating images off to the side of a node.
Generally this type of layout is achieved with simple CSS added to the theme, however in certain circumstances it is better for this CSS to be theme-independent (such as when using multiple themes (e.g. admin themes, mobile themes, etc.)).
Drifter also provides the ability to add a margin to the side and bottom of floated fields (so that other, non-floated fields don't butt up against them).
