Floater Theme

This is a basic theme intended for sites that want to get away from the column feel, yet want to have a fluid look. This approach uses fixed-width content area to help ensure readability, while blocks "float" against it. (Hence the name.)

Features

This is a hybrid approach to fluid layout:

• Blocks float against the content. The wider the page, the more blocks will bump up to fill in across the top.
• Content floats up to fill across the page.
• Blocks remain fixed-width/height (although you certainly can override that in your child theme).
• Alternative layout styles apply on smaller resolution screens.

The current assumption is that you will use this as a base theme for your own theme. Hence this theme has minimal styling applied. Blocks have shading only so you can see what's happening.

Roadmap

7.x-2.x branch plans include: streamlined region definitions (to define fewer regions).

An HTML5 version may happen down the line, either as a branch of this project or in a separate sister project. Stay tuned.
