Plugin Manager

Purpose:

PluginManager is designed to allow users to install modules and themes.

Future:

Originally I had thought that D7 was going to have a full featured plugin manager. As it turns out, most of the backend components are there. The frontend, however, only supports updates at the moment. (The only reason it can even do that is because of the MASSIVE amount of work done by Jacob Singh.) With the D7 code freeze impending, it seems that I will once again begin active development of this module. :)

FAQ:

What's wrong with the 6.x-2.x-dev branch?
Mainly? It is in no way at all meant for public use. It's like my own personal playground... with landmines. It doesn't work AT ALL. It isn't supposed to (yet.) Someday, I'll be ready for 6.x-2.x, but unfortunately, that isn't now. It'll be after D7 is released and I've had the time to backport parts of the plugin manager from core. This should remove most of the problem between maintaining a D6 and D7 branch... later on.

Key point? DO NOT USE 6.x-2-x. IT WILL BREAK YOUR INSTALL.

Will you support Drupal 5?
Certainly! I don't have the time to write the code though. If someone else is willing to write the code, I'm willing to post it.

It seems really inefficient / ugly.
Okay. That's not really a question. You still have a good point though. Some of the inefficiency is because of the reliance on project_release xml. The ugly... well, that was my fault. Jabapyth did ALOT to improve this module. After that, a change to the project_release XML and a couple of changes I made to the UI uglified the interface again. I'll work on this in future versions.
