Share-pal

Share-pal is a module that allows site owners to customize a ShareThis type widget for different content types. Why another social media sharing module? Well, I saw a need to create a module that wasn't dependent on a third party service.

What makes this module better then the other social media/web 2.0 share modules? First off it will be fully open source so you don't have to worry about a third party service(i.e. ShareThis) to provide the widget and interface. Secondly it will be customizable, via the settings page, and extendable, via hooks and an APIs.

Some of the planned features include:

• A few base widgets and some of the more popular social sites
• The ability to add extra sites for sharing
• Customizing the widgets per content type(The look, the sites, the placement)
• Extendability via a hooks system(Adding different core sites, widget types, styles, etc.)

This module is currently in development and any developers that would like to participate in helping it along are more then welcome to.
