The module allows to build high performance tracker replacement using Views module. It's based on ideas from the Tracker 2 project, but is almost a complete rewrite.
Usage
It's recommended that you use Views module together with this module. We don't require it, though, so you can write your own UI, if you don't want to use Views.
For maximum performance, use fields, filters, arguments and sorting conditions from the Views Tracker (where it's possible):
- for global trackers use Views Tracker group
- for user trackers use Views Tracker User group
Use provided "views_tracker_example" view as an example.
Differences between this module and Tracker 2 and reasons of separation:
- Unlike Tracker 2, Views Tracker contains node type in the index. This allows to build separate trackers for different node types without compromise on performance.
- Unlike Tracker 2, Views Tracker has support for the Node Comments module
- Views Tracker has simple codebase without extra unneeded features, so should be easier to maintain and support.
- Tracker 2 is not maintained
- Tracker 2 contains user interface. Views Tracker completely depends on Views module in terms of UI. Tracker 2 has Views integration too, but it's not maintained.
- Tracker 2 is used on the Drupal.org. I didn't want this kind of responsibility and pressure (in terms of features).
