This is a sandbox project for working on functionality surrounding the configuration management initiative. Currently this work is focused on the following areas
File-based configuration
This is currently the most active part of the intiative. There is a game plan document that lays out the proposal for how to implement it, and work is currently happening in the 8.x-file-config branch. Check out the current issues for the configuration system.

Redesign and improvements of the entity system
There are several improvements and additions that could be made in the Entity API which would greatly improve the ability to export and import content. A general battle plan was put together at DrupalCon Chicago, and issues are currently being worked on in feature branches in this sandbox.
