Experimental project
This is a sandbox project, which contains experimental code for developer use only.
This module provides an additional table-like style to views that allows administrators to indicate that only some fields (columns) should be rendered by default but the user should have the ability to add/remove additional fields (columns) through drop-downs below the header and above the filters. The administrator can also choose which fields (columns) the user should have control over displaying.
This module solves a large usability problem with many columned table views. Rather then force the user to scroll sideways through columns they are not interested in or only displaying a small subset of columns (maybe not the ones they want to see), this module allows administrators to add all possible fields a user might want and then limit the default view to a small subset of those columns. This effectively reduces the visual clutter and usability issues associated with too many columns while still ensuring that the column needed by any given user is available.
NOTE: This only works for Views 2; Drupal 6. While I would like to upgrade it I haven't been able to find the time as this functionality is low priority for our organization :(
