SPARCS - Spatial Precipitation And Risk Calculation System is an Award winning, Drupal Based, Decision Support System for wildfire management agencies in North America. SPARCS (on Drupal 6) has been in operational use across Canada for over 3 years. It is being rewritten from the ground up to use Drupal 7 and drive a SaaS model for its features and In it first implementation as a public offering on drupal.org it will be based on the subsystems in use by Canadian (and other international agencies) Wildland Fire Agencies. It will incorporate the following operational functionality:
- Operational Duty Logs (Accountability system for Duty Officers)
- Automatic and Manual Weather Collection (GOES Collection and Manual Weather Entry)
- Fire Weather Index (FWI) and Fire Behaviour Indexes (FB) using Candian Forest Fire Danger Rating System (CFFDRS)
- Real-time and Near-real-time Spatial Display system for all fire information
- Comprehensive Values At Risk (VAR) Management System
- MODIS Fire Detection Management and automated fire mapping Platform
- Asset Tracking & Automated Flight Following System
