Very small homepage, Drupal or selfcoded CMS?

Hello there,

I've been trying to get along with Drupal since Saturday. The case is, I've made a ready-to-use Twitter Bootstrap 2.1.0 template and need 2 things to be dynamic: Projects and Blog Posts.
As stated in the topic title, it is for a small one-man homepage, a personal site where I show off my projects (programming and RL modding) and maintain a small personal blog. After finishing the template I saw that what I planned was pretty advanced for such a simple thing (automatically cross-referencing a single item (a Project for example) to both the homepage and the Project Overview page) and thought about using Drupal. After fiddling with it and the Docs for almost a week now, without any huge results as I'm still not done with all the Docs, I start to think that Drupal might be a bit overkill for what I've planned and that a simple self-coded solution (I guess it would take me less than a week to code a sleek, fit solution to easily add Blog Posts and Projects) might be better suited.

How do you call a function with arguments inside hook_block_view?

Can you tell me how to do this?

Thank you and sorry for my bad english, i hope you understood.

Drupal API - changing user details and roles

Hi!

We are about to switch our existing CMS to Drupal. We want to show some sections of our web site to particular groups of users. For example: customers who bought product A, are shown with section A of our product page only. etc..

I know already that it might be done with 'roles'. However, we want to be able to set/change them (roles) via API (actually our internal CMR will do it).

Therefore, I would like to ask if it's possible:

a) to get/change/reset user password via Drupal API?
b) set/change user's role via Drupal API?

Many thanks!

Remove "login | Regsiter" from the top menu bar

Hello. I've been trying to remove "login | Register" from my newly created site. I've already disabled the login block, so that's not a problem. I just can't seem tom find any info on how to remove the hyperlinks from the top menu bar. I'm using the Danland theme if that's info you need. Thanks in advance.
