How to have many different pages in one main page ?

Hallo all,

I am trying to make something similar like this website

I want to have a left menu with categories (Biochemistry,Biotechnology...) and when a visitor clicks on it then they go and see all the different pages for this category. The way that pages appear will be the same, left a thumbnail of the pdf or jpg file and at the right the title and the rest of the text. Also, must have many entries per page (20, 50). Finally, when you click on the title you will go to the main page with the full text.

how to create .tpl.php file

I have created a sub-theme (base theme is Zen). I don't know how to create .tpl.php file but I wish to create that one. Can anybody tell me how to do the above one?

A view that shows a list of users order by their last post date (on a blog)

I have a view that generates a list of all our users. We have them sorted by their name. But we think it is more fair to have those who posted last on our blog at the top of the list.

I could make a sql query with a join and a distinct, but where to put that when I want to keep using the view module?

Are there other ways to do this?

newb - Annotate tutorial in PD7 book gives error...

Hi

I've been pulling out my hair for a couple of weeks over this...

Am using the Pro Drupal Development book to teach myself how to use Drupal. Chapter 2, the annotate module example, gives the following error when I try to save the configuration with a content type activated:

FieldException: Attempt to create an instance of a field annotation that doesn't exist or is currently inactive. in field_create_instance() (line 457 of /var/www/html/dp7.15/modules/field/field.crud.inc).

Print module: body field not appearing

I am trying to use the print module to write some content of a custom content type into pdfs. However the body field, which is the main part of the content doesn't make it into the pdf. I checked the print.tpl.pdf file and guessed that the $print['content'] is where the content that is to be put in the pdf is stored(in the context of the print.tpl.pdf file). So I printed the content of $print['content'] to a text file and looked at it and it did seem to contain some divs relating to the body field, but the div was empty. So I guess the problem appears before this code is run.
