Drupal 4.5.x or older
how to change domain.com/domain to just domain.com without interferring with drupals code?
I think I did it this time. I made a test site called www.domain.com/domain and now i want to change it to just www.domain.com. I went into the FTP folder and moved everything out of the subfolder and it gave me errors, so i guess that's out of the question so i moved everything back. I tried redirecting from my host but that didn't work. Any ideas on how I can go about removing the subfolder and just making it a regular domain without messing up the codes?
How to find Version and how to get older version?
I have a site that was installed around 2004. I want to upgrade to the latest version. I've read the "How Can I Tell What Version I'm Running" post - http://drupal.org/node/139617 - and also the "Upgrading From Previous Versions" post - http://drupal.org/upgrade.
I know that I should move to the latest version of makor release and then the latest version of the next release.
However, I can't explicitly tell what I'm running. the UPDATE.TXT file says only something about a module not being ready for a 4.5 release.

- Back off the removal of image gallery features. Separate gallery module
won't be ready in time for 4.5 release.
Should I just assume I'm on 4.x and get the 4.7 version?
If so, where do I find 4.7 so I can move to that then 5.x and then 6.x?
Marketing co-op services (donated)
Hello,
I had been speaking with Kieran in the past few months about helping people with their case studies or press releases for projects they've completed. I'm not sure how many inquiries I'll get, but I'm willing to try to donate some time to help people get their news out.
Also, another thing to consider is tagging each other's news on social media platforms (Stumble Upon, Technorati, Digg, etc). Kind of like a 'tag circle' of people helping each other out.
One more thing that will help the community -- since the whitehouse.gov the chatter on the Internet is ranging from kudos to serious 'hating'. Some of you may have caught Chris Wilson's article on slate.com. My thoughts are that we as a community can act in a concerted and potent manner to these kinds of attacks much more rapidly if we start to coordinate from a marketing standpoint.
Anyway, if this is already happening, I'll be glad to be contacted by whomever is handling the initiative. Otherwise, I'm happy to be joined by a couple of people to make this happen.
Apologies if this is misclassified in forums -- was looking for a marketing category but could not find one.

Speed of development for simple sites?
I have some experience building websites, but have never used any of the major CMS's. I am contemplating learning Drupal because of all the flexibility it is touted to have, but I am wondering if Drupal makes it easy to quickly create simple websites that mainly have only text, pictures, and a menu in them.
I'd like for Drupal to help me with the structure and content management of such sites (and also leave open the possibility to make such sites more complex in the future), but I don't want it to take forever to put together a simple, small website initially.
Can Drupal help me crank out small, simple sites quickly?
Really old drupal site needs upgrade
Hello,
I inherited a really old Drupal site (4.2) that is in desperate need of upgrade. I gather that I need to upgrade to 4.7 then to 5.x then 6.x.
1. Can I go from 4.2 straight to 4.7? If so, where can I download 4.7? If not, where can I download the intermediate versions? My search on this site did not lead me to any download pages for any versions of 4.x
2. If the 4.x versions of Drupal are no longer available, what are my options for upgrading my site to 6.x?
I realize that 4.x is no longer supported, but I just wanted to know if anyone out there had similar problems and came across any solutions.
The host is upgrading the site's shared server (PHP4.4.7 to PHP5.11, MYSQL 4.1.22 to MySQL 5.081 and Apache 1.3.37 to Apache 2.2.13) and I'm not sure how it might affect this old version of Drupal
Thanks in advance for any advice.
