Using Workflow field. I've been going back and forth between Content Access and Workflow Access with what I thought was the most recent version of Workflow (I was wrong), neither access module worked properly with the old version of Workflow...with fresh installs for both.
I have done a fresh install again with only minimal modules to get workflow working. I now see there was an update to Beta11 and received this error while running "update script"
An AJAX HTTP error occurred. HTTP Result Code: 200 Debugging information follows. Path: [Domain]update.php?op=selection&token=xJlofrFqapH62Tmk05I7iaVMWE1VUBfyw4ayCXsP4Nc&id=19&op=do StatusText: OK ResponseText: Fatal error: Class name must be a valid object or a string in [path]includes/common.inc on line 7837
I'm not against starting again from scratch because I'm not to deep but I'm wondering if there is a fix and perhaps some advice on what access module will work better? I wanted to use Content Access so I didn't have two access modules fighting but willing to use Workflow Access only if it will keep giving me problems.
I'm hoping once the Workflow update is implemented the access module will work for us. *It's been a LONG week*

wouser commentedI disable ALL of the workflow modules (Including field) and tried updating script again and received this error:

wouser commentedI applied the patch given Here: https://drupal.org/node/2192815 There was no error when I updated the script. Patch worked for taking away the error but content access is still not functioning correctly.
This module worked when I previously used different versions using Workflow Node along with Workflow Field although I have not "come from a version below 7.x-2.x." (I have yet to go live), All users were only able to view the workflow transitions available to them, my only issue was being able to publish content and have any user view it.
This is why I started over with using Workflow Field but now there is an "Access Denied" with one exception:
When I copy the URL of the revision and paste it into the browser of the user who is allowed to access the content it receives an "Access Denied" if I hit the back button and then go forward I am able to VIEW the node but not edit the node as the user should be allowed. I'm no coder so this doesn't make sense to me..
I am happy to do any tests and will continue to work on this until someone else is able to find a solution.
Question: Will Content Access function properly to repeat exactly what workflow access is suppose to do? I've read that it does but haven't gotten either access module to work properly lately with Workflow.

johnvI think the fix you mean is [#8461731-13] - so i guess the AJAX problem is fixed?Regarding Workflow Access: It was developed for Workflow Node, and should be working for Workflow Node. I did not have the chance to test it for Workflow Field. So, your observations may be correct: ATM it does not work for Workflow Field - but I haven't tested it.
Regarding the difference between Workflow Access and Content Access:
- Workflow Access provides access restrictions based on the state of the workflow.
- IIRC, Content Access provides access per node type, role, but does not check any field value.
With Workflow Field, the workflow state is an 'ordinary' field, and some submodules may be obsolete. So you might want to try Conditional Fields.
[EDIT] as of 3.3.2014, this is fixed with #2209359: workflow access & workflow field

wouser commentedOk, on Workflow Node there is a message for the description on the admin/modules page. (Use only if you come from a version below 7.x-2.x. If not, use 'Workfow Field' instead). This is what confused me and why I figured Workflow was not working properly, which is why I was trying to get Workflow Fields to work.
Yes the problem is fixed with Ajax error. I tried looking up #8461731-13 with no luck...however, I'm a newb.

Thank you for answering that question about content access. I'm hoping the next install is a great success.

johnvI've made the texts on the module page better. There is now lso a message when you enable Workflow module.
Do not confuse Workflow Field with Workflow Fields!
I've renamed this issue to its core #2-#4.

2phaI started using workflow on a project and discovered workflow access not working as expected for me.
I am using workflow field as it is recommended on the modules page, even though I am only using workflow on 1 node content type.
I just need to know if workflow access is working when using workflow field.
This thread is a little confusing. Especially since it has been closed and set to works as designed.

johnvYeah this thread is confusing..
Please open a new one with your problem. Perhaps we copy some tekst from above to that thread.

2phaNo worries, I added a new issue: https://drupal.org/node/2209359
